Wie war es f\u00fcr Dich Teil des Teams zu sein?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es war richtig cool! Ich kenne James den Leiter des <a title=\"Zur berghaus Markenseite im Shop\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/marken\/berghaus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">berghaus<\/a> MtnHaus \u2013 Teams  sehr gut und wir sind seit langer Zeit befreundet. Daraus ergab sich eine sehr enge Zusammenarbeit. Au\u00dferdem hat berghaus Mitarbeiter die in der eigenen Werkstatt <strong>Gore-Tex oder Softshells<\/strong> perfekt verarbeiten k\u00f6nnen. Dadurch konnten wir f\u00fcr die Mt. Asgard Serie den Entwicklungsprozess flie\u00dfender gestalten. Wir hatten dazu mehrere Meetings und Prototypen, die wir direkt im Lake District getesteten haben. Wenn ich einen \u00c4nderungswunsch hatte wurde es vom MtnHaus Team sofort umgesetzt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schlussendlich haben wir eine Silhouette und Form erhalten mit der ich wirklich gl\u00fccklich bin. Insgesamt hatten wir eine starke Kommunikation und viele Prototypen, die uns zu diesem Ergebnis gef\u00fchrt haben. Ich denke es ist die <strong>leichteste Jacke die man bekommen kann<\/strong> und dazu absolut robust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Das MtnHaus Team hat einen brillanten Job bei der Entwicklung der Mt. Asgard Serie gemacht. Welches ist Dein Lieblingsst\u00fcck und Warum?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ich w\u00fcrde sagen es ist die <a title=\"die berghaus Mt. Asgard Smock im Shop\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/marken\/berghaus\/regenjacken\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hardshell-Jacke Smock<\/a>. Sie ist einfach unglaublich leicht, so um die 290g, was einer Paclite Konstruktion entspricht, aber es ist Pro-Shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ich nehme an es gab viele Situationen w\u00e4hrend Deiner Expeditionen in denen Du gl\u00fccklich warst gutes Material dabei zu haben \u2013 gibt es eine Situation an die Du Dich am besten erinnern kannst?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/berghaus-mount-asgard-smock1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/berghaus-mount-asgard-smock1.jpg\" alt=\"Einfach, robust, leicht - die Smock - Jacket\" class=\"wp-image-4045\" width=\"354\" height=\"354\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Einfach, robust, leicht &#8211; die Mt. Asgard Smock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Ich hatte die Jacke schon fast \u00fcberall im Einsatz. China \u2026 und in <strong>Yosemite<\/strong>. Dort hat uns ein echt \u00fcbles Unwetter am <strong>El Capitan <\/strong>erwischt. Ich w\u00fcrde sagen es war eines der heftigsten die sie je hatten. Der Fluss im Tal stieg \u00fcber Nacht 6 Meter an, unglaublich, es hatte fast biblische Ausma\u00dfe. In so einer Situation war ich nat\u00fcrlich froh eine Jacke wie die Smock zu haben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>F\u00fcr welchen unserer Leser denkst Du ist die Smock?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ich w\u00fcrde sagen sie ist f\u00fcr Profisportler \u2013 f\u00fcr Alpinisten und Kletterer. Alle diejenigen, die absolute Funktionalit\u00e4t bei sehr, sehr leichtem Gewicht wollen. Die Jacke ist nur auf das n\u00f6tigste beschr\u00e4nkt und bietet keine Spielereien. Insgesamt wurde darauf geachtet sie absolut langlebig zu gestalten, dabei funktional und super leicht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mal abgesehen von der Smock \u2013 welches Teil aus der Serie w\u00fcrdest Du hervorheben?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die <strong>Hybrid Jacke <\/strong>ist eine etwas neuere Entwicklung. Sie ist in Bereichen, die nur minimal Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt sind mit Daune gef\u00fcllt, hat aber dort wo es oft Feucht wird Primaloft als Isolationsmaterial. Das eigentlich besondere daran ist aber die Daune: berghaus setzt hier auf die sogenannte <strong>hydrophobische Daune<\/strong>. Hier wird die eigentliche Daune impr\u00e4gniert und nicht das Au\u00dfenmaterial. Asgard Serie. Da viele unserer Leser selbst Alpinisten oder Sportkletterer sind w\u00fcrden wir gerne wissen was Dein Rezept f\u00fcr einen guten Trip ist.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein gutes Team! Das wichtigste sind Menschen die Du magst. Dann ist es relativ egal ob Du Dein eigentliches Ziel \u00e4ndern musst, man hat einfach eine gute Zeit. Ich meine, wenn Du bei schlechtem Wetter einfach nur ein paar Runden Shithead spielst, dann ist es mit den <strong>richtigen Freunden<\/strong> einfach cool. Zweitens solltest Du anpassungsf\u00e4hig sein. Manchmal musst Du in der Lage sein innerhalb k\u00fcrzester Zeit alles zu \u00e4ndern. Also offen sein f\u00fcr alles, in einem guten Team \u2013 ich denke das ist es.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/mt-asgar-summit-team.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/mt-asgar-summit-team.jpg\" alt=\"Das Mt. Asgard Team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Welches Ereignis war f\u00fcr Dich am faszinierendsten w\u00e4hrend Deiner Laufbahn als Profisportler und was ist die Geschichte dahinter?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Da gibt es viele unterschiedliche Erlebnisse. F\u00fcr mich ist einiges von dem wirklich faszinierenden Zeug aus einem anderen Bereich. Ich verbringe ziemlich viel Zeit in den Bergen und am Fels, verbringe aber nicht wirklich viel Zeit damit Sportwagen zu fahren oder \u00e4hnliches. Es war daher sehr interessant f\u00fcr \u201eTop Gear\u201c, eine sehr erfolgreiche TV-Show in Gro\u00dfbritannien, zu arbeiten. Die Arbeit beim Film macht viel Spa\u00df und f\u00fcr mich ist das <strong>eine weitere Perspektive auf den Berg.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>K\u00fcrzlich habe ich an einem <strong>3D Film<\/strong> gearbeitet, was ziemlich cool war. Es war lediglich ein 2 Tage Pilot f\u00fcr einen gr\u00f6\u00dferen Film. Die Kamera die dabei zum Einsatz kam war absolutes Hightech Equipment. Insgesamt gibt es davon nur drei St\u00fcck auf der Welt und jede Kamera wiegt 65kg. Als wir den Piloten gedreht haben, waren 2 Kameras am Set von Fluch der Karibik 4 und haben <strong>Johnny Depp<\/strong> gefilmt, die andere filmte mich (Yes!).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Abseilen-am-Mt-Asgard.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bergfreunde.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Abseilen-am-Mt-Asgard.jpg\" alt=\"Die Belohnung f\u00fcr hohen Aufwand - beeindruckende Bilder\" class=\"wp-image-4015\" width=\"375\" height=\"282\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Die Belohnung f\u00fcr hohen Aufwand &#8211; beeindruckende Bilder<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Dabei ist es kein leichtes Kletterfilme zu drehen. Ich glaube die meisten haben keine Idee davon wie aufw\u00e4ndig es ist, denn der Beste Winkel ist von oben und etwas seitlich, was nat\u00fcrlich bedeutet, dass man den Kameramann dort irgendwie hinbekommen muss. Das ist schon mit normalen HD Equipment ziemlich schwer, aber wenn du es mit der 3D Kamera machen willst ist das nochmal eine ganz andere Sache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gl\u00fccklicherweise entwickeln sie daran ziemlich schnell weiter. In einem Jahr wird man f\u00fcr die gleiche Filmqualit\u00e4t eine Kamera ben\u00f6tigen die \u201enur noch\u201c um die 25kg wiegt, was immer noch eine Menge ist. Aber ich denke ein 3D Kletterfilm k\u00f6nnte richtig gut werden, denn Klettern ist nun mal eine dreidimensionale Sportart. Mal schauen, vielleicht haben wir es n\u00e4chstes Jahr hier am Stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Und f\u00fcr die Zukunft? Nach Mt Asgard und einer Erstbegehung am El Capitan, was wird Dein n\u00e4chstes Projekt?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leider habe ich mir eine Sehne in der letzten Seill\u00e4nge von El Prophet am El Capitan gerissen. Ich habs zwar irgendwie hinbekommen die Route machen, bin aber seitdem nicht mehr wirklich geklettert. Das ist zweieinhalb Monate her, ich muss also erstmal wieder fit werden. Danach werde ich wieder eine Bigwall angehen, die haben f\u00fcr mich etwas ganz spezielles. Es geht einfach nur um die Logistik, das Abenteuer und Deinen Willen. Plus, sie sind immer in Nationalparks. Yosemite ist ein Nationalpark, Mt Asgard ist ein Nationalpark\u2026es sind also die sch\u00f6nsten Ecken der Welt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Das n\u00e4chste Projekt, das ich machen m\u00f6chte, ist in den Regenwald von Venzuela zu reisen und dort den <strong>Mt. Asgard Kit. How was it to be a part of the berghaus MtnHaus developer team and to work with them?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well it was really cool! I know James very well. He\u2019s the main guy of the berghaus MtnHaus Team and we have been friends for a long time. So we worked together really closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also another guy who has small workshop and can produce full quality Gore-Tex or softshells in the office just on a there and then basis. What we changed a little bit with the development for the Asgard jacket was that we did it much more stream line process &#8211; so I worked with them quite a lot. We had lots of meetings and many prototypes. With these we would immediately meet in the Lake District and try it on to see what is correct or has to be changed &#8211; and the MtnHaus team could change it the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end we got a silhouette and a format that I was happy with. There was just more communication and more prototypes which I now am pretty happy with the result. I think it is the lightest jacket you could get at full strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q2: The team has done a brilliant job with the berghaus Mt. Asgard Kit. Which piece is your favorite and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is probably the berghaus Mt. Asgard hardshell Smock. It\u2019s just incredibly light. I think it is about 290g which is about the old paclite material but it\u2019s pro-shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q3: I suppose there were plenty situations during your expedition in which you were happy to have had this kit \u2013 Is there any situation which you especially remember?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have used it a lot all over the place. China\u2026 and in the Yosemite &#8211; we got caught I a really bad storm on El Capitan. I think one of the heaviest rains they have ever had in Yosemite. The river went up over 6 meters over night, incredible, like something out of the bible and then I was very happy to have the pro-shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q4: Who of our readers should consider buying a Smock?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean it is top end &#8211; for alpinist climbers. For people who want high performance with very very light weight. It doesn\u2019t have lots and lots of features\u2026there are no gimmicks. It\u2019s a very simple product. It is designed to not to wear out and to be light plus high performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q5: Besides the Smock \u2013 which piece of the Mt. Asgard kit would you like to point out?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mt. Asgard hybrid is kind of a later development. It is down on the areas that have minimum exposure to moisture but it has Primaloft in the places that often get wet. But what is really special its: the down \u2013 it is called the hydrophobic down. So the actual feather has a waterproof coating and not only the face fabric. I think in the future you will see a lot more hydrophic down everywhere, but we had it first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q6: Thanks for the first part. As many of our readers are alpinists and rock climbers themselves we would like to know your personal recipe for a good trip\/expedition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good team! The most important thing is people who you like. Then even if you are not successful in the main objective you still have a good time. I mean if you just play shithead in bad weather you know with the right friends it\u2019s just good. Second thing is to be adaptable. You have to be able to completely change everything in quite a short time. So remain open in a good team \u2013 I think that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q7: Which was the most fascinating experience during your life as a professional athlete and what was the story behind it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lots of different things. For me some of the most fascinating stuff is slightly different. Actually I spent a lot of time in the mountains a lot of time on the rocks, but don\u2019t spend that much time driving sports cars or these kinds of things. It was very interesting working for top gear which is a very popular TV show in the UK and they have lot of resources. I quite enjoy working in film and that is another take on the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently I have been working on a 3d movie, which was very cool. We just did a 2 day pilot shoot for a bigger film. The cameras you have to use for a 3d shoot are really special. There are only 3 of them in the world and each camera weights 65kg. When we shot the Pilot 2 of them were filming Johnny Depp on Pirates of Caribbean 4 \u2013 the other one was filming me (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making climbing movies is a real pain in the ass \u2013 people have no idea how difficult it is, because the best angle is just above and just from the side, which obviously means you have to get the camera guy there. It is difficult with normal HD equipment but if you want to do it in 3d it is a totally different level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately they are developing very quickly. In one year\u2019s time for the same quality of image the camera will be about 25 kgs, which is still a lot. But I think a 3d climbing movie could be very good, because obviously climbing is a very 3 dimensional activity. Maybe next year we will have it on the stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q8: And for the future?! After Mt. Asgard and a first ascent on El Capitan, what is your next project? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well I blew my tendon on the last pitch of The Prophet. I managed to do it anyway, but I haven\u2019t really climbed since and it\u2019s been two and a half month now, so I have to get fit again. Then I like climbing big walls, there is something special about big cliffs. It is all about logistics, the adventure and the commitment. Plus they are always in national parks, Yosemite is a national park, Mt.
